It was a beautiful week for making some attic and basement clutter disappear! This is one of our favorite magicians, Lucas, making it look EASY to haul a sofa, futon, AND dresser out of a third story attic :) So many of you wrote in to comment about last week’s post, My Mom’s Apartment… WOW! And Thank You! It was quite the project and there’s MORE:) This week, let’s peek into her bedroom and bathroom (don’t worry, she’s out for coffee…) Bedroom BEFORE: A blank canvas--everything beige and off-white! Bedroom AFTER: She INSISTED on a twin bed so we extended the bed energy out and up with a powerful headboard, a paint color that pulled the headboard color out even further and strong matching side tables and lamps. The comforter is a linen/cotton blend with a sweet crocheted edge and the bedskirt custom made of navy linen. Sweet Dreams!

Just taking the first steps into “my” park causes me to take a deeper breath--it’s a super-sized shot of NATURE vitamins! I am soooooo lucky, it’s right in my backyard: Elver Park, Madison And now that I’ve had a walk...I want to tell you a story! If you’ve been following, you know that last January, my dad passed away. My parents had lived in the same condo for 12 years and it was a touch on the old and stuffy side--nothing much ever changed and even though it was “OK-fine”, the stuff was OLD--badly in need of refreshing! My mom wanted to move to a new apartment with ALL NEW FURNITURE!!!! She wanted the full Feng Shui Treatment! At 87, was ready for an uptick in energy and design. (Most of the credit goes to my sister for suggesting it...our family works in mysterious ways--yours, too?) So BRAVE to let everything go at that stage in life! Mom This week I’m highlighting her Living Room and Dining Room--and will continue with the bedroom/bathroom next week. BEFORE--A big empty room at the new apartment with a sliding door at the end. A totally blank canvas! And then her STUFF arrived--(she is totally pared down, but even so, when it’s all in the living room, WOW!) AFTER: The living room is soft, but still vibrant and inviting. A new pair of chairs scaled small to fit her size--and, ahem, Hummingbird Curtains!
We had a FANTASTIC time in South Africa--such a vibrant and complex country full of color, chaos, conflict and SO MUCH SPIRIT! The trip was a bit of everything: mountains, oceans, culture, the ANIMALS (OMG--So Cool!), connecting with new people, hiking, negotiating with the locals and each other :) and just plain hanging out! Entabeni Game Reserve So, I’m back (!!!!!) and excited to begin the Fall season with you. It’s the perfect time to put an extra bit of focus on your home...can you feel it? Soooo, let’s continue our ‘Year of Clearing’…and get the chi flowing beautifully through your home (and your LIFE!)...
