 Hello Beautiful, Do you ever wonder if there’s a silver lining to your junk? A golden nugget of truth hidden in the boxes? A teeny magic message that will arise from the mess? I get it, I used to think that just letting go of stuff would translate into magical results all on its own. A very black and white scenario: you let go and you receive, BIG TIME. And yes, there’s a sizable connection between letting go and letting in. I’ve seen it over and over: ~Let go of 20 boxes of old paper→new job opportunities start arriving ~HANDLE the chaos in the basement→eat well, start a walking program and lose 15 pounds ~Clear out junk room (I mean craft room)→ daughters start inviting friends over to craft...FUN! ~Shred threatening emails from ex→ accept marriage proposal from boyfriend by the weekend ~File the piles of papers on and around your desk→ win award for most productive manager These are a few examples from the REAL LIVES of my clients, and maybe you’re thinking, “It’s too good to be true!” (I thought so at first, too!) Truthfully, these astonishing results have always seemed a little cheesy and “off” to me, even though I have been a witness to them over and over. I’ve pondered what the magic *really* is many, many times. What is the missing piece? The real magic lies in the act of choosing. With each decision to keep or not keep (and this includes thoughts, relationships, beliefs, ideas, and STUFF) we get to CHOOSE what defines us in the moment. Every single little thing that we make a decision about (or don’t make a decision about)--whether it’s junk mail that arrives every day, the piles of dusty, crusty who-knows-what, relationships or beliefs...as we sift and sort, we are not just saying “Yes” to what stays or goes, but we are saying “Yes” to ourselves. Each YES is a moment to say, “Yep, that’s me--that feels like it really resonates with my soul!” Every NO is the chance to say goodbye to an outdated version of you. As we sort through the clutter we face each day--emotional, spiritual, intellectual AND physical--we discern and constantly create and re-imagine ourselves as we evolve and grow. So, finishing the decluttering process? Not going to happen! It’s a constant aligning with who we are. Right now. Right now. Right now. And the more aligned we are with our authentic selves, the more the good stuff shows up in our lives. The process of decluttering is our chance to really take a good look at Who. We. Are. ~Beer Can Collection? ~Rat’s nest of receipts from the ‘90s? ~Grandma’s fine china with matching crystal goblets--place setting for 12--beautifully boxed? ~Broken furniture? ~Old board games or puzzles with missing pieces? ~A job that makes you cry as you drive there EVERY SINGLE MORNING? ~Unfinished afghan that (come on, let’s face it) you will NEVER finish and you think is ugly, anyway :) Our physical stuff defines us more than we know, it’s a living, breathing journal of our lives. Hello Beautiful! Bob (lovely husband) and I took off for the weekend--we drove the baby car (MG Midget, for you gearheads out there…) on the backroads to Trempealeau (cute little town on the Mississippi River) and had the most delightful time!
Little getaways are the BEST! This week, back to work, I wanted to highlight Kathy and Aaron’s Living Room--this room got an incredible upgrade! BEFORE:
The Challenges: ~Paint colors--shades of brown--Earth Energy out of balance ~Furniture--brown colors and lots of wood--Wood Energy out of balance ~Rug--Earth colors and small for the space--shrinking the room ~Art--small, unimpactful ~Architecture--small skinny triangle near the ceiling, highlighted by the placement of paint ~Lighting--Even with windows across the back, the room felt dark  Kathy and Aaron REALLY WENT FOR IT--and this room was transformed into a cozy space to hang out, talk, read and watch movies… Besides that, these two are FUN, ACTIVE, BUSY and their living room was definitely not a match to their enthusiasm for life! AFTER:  The Enhancements: ~Paint colors--a beautiful deep ocean color to add Water Energy ~Furniture--Gorgeous, soft, RED sofa--Fire Energy--to magically attract them to the room Plus, a soft, colorful ottoman ~Rug--a very, very pale pink, soft, plush area rug--almost 3X the size of the other one, to give the room a luxurious feel. ~Art--BIG, BOLD and BEAUTIFUL! ~Architecture--the new paint placement corrected the triangle at the top of the dining room entrance--magically GONE! The vaulted ceiling folds beautifully into the dining room and creates a feeling of cohesiveness ~Lighting--We added can lighting all over the ceiling to easily control the amount of light in the space. Also the gorgeous art is highlighted by its own special art light ~Peeking into their dining room, you can see the birch tree mural and the colors connecting the two spaces Kathy said, “This (Feng Shui adventure) has been the most positive and uplifting change in both of our lives! We absolutely love all of the new colors, furniture recommendations, and pieces of art. We honestly feel like we have a brand new home and feel like now our home has so much more positive energy!” Everyone is unique in their personalities and desires and there is ALWAYS a way to use your home or office as an AMAZING tool to upgrade your life!
