Hello Beautiful! The furniture was delivered to our client, Leah’s, family room on Sunday and look who found the Feng Shui Power Position? Animals instinctively know where the “best seat in the house” is--if you’re wondering about yours, check where your pets are hanging out! If you’re sitting in this position you can see all entrances to the room, and you will ideally be seated against a wall or other structure, so that no activity is occuring behind you. Just notice how you feel in your favorite (or least favorite) spot in your home. Are you feeling powerful and confident, or always wondering what’s going on behind your back? Take a few minutes with me to consider this idea of the Power Position for your Living Room Sofa... From a Feng Shui perspective, the sofa position is critical in any living room--it’s a place to relax, connect, talk, snuggle and rejuvenate. It’s the FIRST piece of furniture we evaluate in our clients’ living/family room spaces. Living Room #1-- In this living room (you are seeing the living room from the entrance to the home) the picture window is across from the sofa. The sofa feels GOOOOOOOOD there--it’s in the perfect spot for this space. These clients can see who’s coming up their sidewalk and to their front door from the sofa. They are very likely to sit there to have a conversation, read, work and hangout. Annnnd, bonus points, the sofa has its back against the wall offering them feelings of stability and confidence. Living Room #2-- The sofa is in the power position, with the TV directly across--the view is behind and the wood burning stove is to the side. The curved sofa (like a BIG HUG) gives this family the chance to cuddle into the corner to see out the windows, enjoy the fire or the TV, all from the sofa. In fact the weekend this sofa arrived, the whole family, parents, teenagers and GRANDMA sat down for a holiday movie extravaganza--a definite first for them!!! Living Room #3-- This sectional creates the room by following the shape of the walls. Sectionals are AMAZING for giving you LOTS of seating room and this one, in particular, is a Great Big Invitation to sit down, relax, read, watch a movie and snuggle. If you live in a home where there are lots of factors to consider in your living room, start with the sofa position--if you pay attention to how you feel while seated on the sofa, you might just “know” when you’ve got it in the right spot. If you have a higher level of difficulty as you plan the space of your living room--and need to also consider a beautiful view, a TV and a fireplace (not to mention chairs!) feel free to email me--I would love to chat with you about your space. Your sofa position is an important piece of the Feng Shui puzzle! Lots of Love, XOXO PS: If you’re on Instagram, look me up, @jantonovich, we are having a LOT of fun over there--daily-ish posts and videos that I don’t share anywhere else--JOIN US!

Hello Beautiful! A BIG WELCOME to our new e-community members--we are so happy you’re here! Last week, I had the pleasure of speaking at the Warner Park Community Center and met so many amazing new people at our “Power of Decluttering” event. This is Fil and I afterwards--she did a fabulous job organizing the event! Your life can change in So Many Ways by letting the chaos/clutter go and making a plan to keep it gone. This is a wonderful time of year to start... This year, Saturday, January 25, marks the Chinese New Year (referred to as the Lunar New Year globally because so many countries and cultures celebrate). It happens when the New Moon appears between Jan 21 and Feb 20. It’s the YEAR of the RAT this year which symbolizes a flexible and open mind, good luck and prosperity in your career, as well as cleverness, creativity and fertility--this might be a good year for a baby (!) or the birth of a book, a fabulous new idea--anything that feels like a “labor of love” (Like FINALLY clearing out the basement, closets or garage :)
In Chinese culture, a New Year cleaning ritual is a really big deal--but it's just generally done before the first day of the New Year so that the good luck of the first few days of the celebration is not swept away. Many people also use this time to repaint their homes, clear clutter and fix anything that's broken. (Ahem, yes, I was looking at you :) I have a yearly ritual of clearing my office at this time--I seem to collect so many samples--tile, wallpaper, carpet, fabric from working with clients--they pile up and it always feels amazing to clear them out! Do you have an idea of where you will start? Any hotspots calling your name? Email me and let me know what your first project will be--I would LOVE to know--and bonus points, send before and after pics, I would be so excited to cheer you on! Lots of Love, XOXO Hello Beautiful!THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! We raised ALL the money to paint the Black Women’s Wellness Center (and then some). |
