We had an amazing opportunity to create this gorgeous guest room for our clients in Kohler!

Feng Shui tips:
  • Use a solid upholstered headboard for support
  • Look for bedding that is soft and simple
  • Add some FUN with pillows, art and lighting
  • Include a bench or chair for guests to set down their bag
  • Consider simple blinds or shades for privacy and controlling the light
What resonates for you?
Could you take just one of the ideas above and apply it to your own space? Take a few minutes and give your guest space some love and let me know how it goes for you--I would LOVE to see some pictures :)
And for a fun extra credit activity--spend a night in YOUR guest room to see how it feels and what you could add (or subtract) to make it feel even better!
Lots of Love,
XOXO

Too Much Wood--Feng Shui Element

5/20/2024

So many people ask me about one of the most basic Feng Shui Tools--the balance of the 5 elements--it’s SUCH an important key in creating a beautiful and balanced feeling space--

There are the 5 Feng Shui Elements:
  • Earth
  • Wood
  • Metal
  • Water
  • Fire
When they are all in balance, it feels wonderful, the vibes are GOOD and you never want to leave the space.
You can instantly feel when the elements are in harmony or when one or more of them have gotten out of balance.
Today let’s focus on the element of wood--
The WOOD Element is represented by:
  • The green color spectrum
  • Things made of Wood
  • Flowers, plants
  • Vertical beams, vertical stripes
  • Images of flowers and plants
  • Columnar Shapes
Example of Too Much Wood in a space:
Picture
  • Wood paneling on the walls, ceiling AND FLOOR
  • Vertical shape (made of stone but look at the shape--like a tree)
  • Wooden Furniture--YIKES--look at the coffee table!
The above room won a design award, but from a Feng Shui perspective, it is out of balance and if you were to live in this space you might feel:
  • RIGID, like a tree--feeling planted, dug in.
  • Resentful
  • Closed to new ideas
  • Impatient
  • Stressed
When Wood is in balance in your space (as in this client’s home):
~Moss green colored walls--Wood element
~A forest depicted in the custom art piece--Wood element
~Blue sofa--Water element (the color) and Earth element (the shape)
~Splashes of red, hot pink and faux fur--Fire element
~Beige carpeting and golden horizontal striped pillow--Earth element
~Black metal floor lamps for the Metal element
~Off-White pillows--Metal element
~Wood and metal side tables--Wood and Metal elements
~Plant--Wood element
~Green Ottoman--Wood element (the color) and Metal element (oval shape)

When your space has a balanced wood element you will feel--
  • Resilient
  • Patient
  • Kind
  • Positive
Sounds amazing doesn’t it?
Now it’s YOUR turn:
Check out your home or office, how do the rooms feel, in general, do you have wood elements in your space AND how do they make you feel?
Notice the element of wood--do you have too much, too little, or does it feel just right?
There are always “corrections” that can be made in a space to balance the elements--when I work with clients to harmonize, balance and upgrade a space, I am always aware of these foundational principles and use very specific design “remedies” in the form of paint color, fabric choices, furniture, space planning, flooring, mirrors and art to correct or cure the energy of a space that has gotten out of balance.
I will be highlighting the other elements in future posts, so keep an eye out :)
And, if you[email protected] would like to have a conversation about working together, contact me and I will be in touch as soon as possible.
Lots of Love,
XOXO

This recently completed condo guest bathroom gives us the chance to share some quick Feng Shui tips for you to use in your own space:
  1. Clear out the cabinets, edit out the old stuff and freshen up products for anyone who may use this space – don’t forget to check the shower!
  2. Clear off the countertops to create space for guests – ditch the clutter!
  3. Check the towels--make sure they are ‘good to go’ for your next guests
  4. Freshen up your art--these watercolor prints with tons of white space look amazing on the darker wallpaper
  5. Consider a beautiful wallpaper or paint color to really deliver a BIG HIT of good energy
What resonates for you?
Could you take just one of the ideas above and apply it to your own space? Take a few minutes and give your space some love and let me know how it goes for you--I would LOVE to see some pictures :)

Giving this great room some love

5/10/2024

We had the absolute pleasure of creating beautiful designs for every room of this brand new condo in Kohler, WI.
Today we are going to take a peek at the great room→ dining/living room combo.
When you have a big empty space with lots of windows (how nice!) It can get a little tricky to arrange furniture and preserve the flow--
Picture
Here are some of the basic Feng Shui principles we used to create this space:

*Place the sofa in an empowered position so that from your vantage point there, you can see the front door, out the windows and (in this case) the hallway from the back door.
*Create a living room with a rug grounding the space and small accent chairs that are in connection with the sofa--cozying up with a campfire effect--every piece of furniture (and every person sitting there) in relationship with each other.
* A soft, but flowy, (water and wood elements) wall color to help the room feel alive.
*A very strong beautiful piece of art to pull you into the space--you notice it right at the front door
*A simple round dining table with a beautiful light and comfy chairs balancing the rest of the space. (The chairs can be used for extra seating in the living room if needed)
*Gorgeous and simple window treatments to control the light/privacy
*Every little thing intentionally chosen to give this space a very expanded and relaxed feeling
What resonates for you?
Could you take just one of the ideas above and apply it to your own space--take just a few minutes and give your space some love…
*Clear Clutter
*Move furniture around or closer together
*Paint (!!!)
*Define your space with a rug
*Add a beautiful piece of art to your space
Let me know what you decide to do--send pictures or message me--I would love to hear from you!
And, I still have a spot open for one mini-makeover (just one room) before my next big remodel starts. I can work with you in-person OR virtually--message me and we can set up a time to chat.
Lots of Love,
XOXO
