Hello Beautiful! Bob, lovely husband, and I have been painting, packing and cleaning to get ready for our move to the little home above the Gas Station that we’re building. I made a video so you can see the progress, too... Even after I shot this, more tile was laid, more wallpaper was installed and more trim was painted. At this point, it seems like it cannot possibly be ready for us to move in in 2 weeks!
This is a good time for us to practice trust and faith :) Enjoy and I will catch up with you very soon! Lots of Love, XOXO

Hello Beautiful! Our project in Blue Mounds, The Gas Station Renovation, is moving full steam ahead--I’m posting daily-ish updates--follow me on Instagram for the play-by-play. Not only is the NEW place taking a ton of energy, but (let’s not forget) we also have to paint the apartment #backtobeige. So far, I’m staying on schedule with that--spending an hour a day painting--less sexy, but has to happen... This GORGEOUS LIGHT from Madison Lighting was installed yesterday and today we were cleaning (that’s Bob, lovely husband) and getting things moved out for the flooring to be installed tomorrow. (Thanks to Whitney for this weeks’ topic suggestion--Virtual Learning) Have you started Back to School? Are you supporting kids who have? Most/all learning is taking place virtually this semester and I wanted to share a few quick Feng Shui tips to maximize your experience. 1. Dedicate A Place: Each person does not need their own fully-appointed office. However, designating a space for live, virtual meetings will help ground the energy for learning. The basics include a desk, table or counter at a comfortable height for the learner, a solid chair, a space for a notebook and learning materials and a way to organize them. If possible, place the desk so that the learner is facing the room--a very powerful position! Facing a wall will make learning and staying in that spot, VERY DIFFICULT. A carrier like this can help if more than one person is rotating through a space--laptop on one side, and supplies, books, etc. on the other--mobile learning at it’s best. The newly-designed virtual meeting space below is being shared (I mean, arm-wrestled over) by two teens and their mom who’s an Educational Support Coach: Also, nice to have an extra chair in the space if your kids need support. The mural on top is Palawan Beach (look it up) and the wall is finished with a vibrant blue below--water energy, good for FLOW! 2. Lighting: Make sure that your space has a good light that doesn’t produce a glare on the screen. A desk lamp like this one from Century House can be adjusted and has an LED light which is bright without a glare + it’s super fun! If you have natural light coming in, try to position your student FACING a window or, at least, have the window at her/his side. A window behind the learner causes the “witness protection” shadowy look--makes it hard to look sharp on the screen with your friends and teachers. 3. Movement: Remember, kids AND adults can only really handle 60 minutes (if that--me too) of sitting and focusing before brain-function starts to decline. Movement can help in those cases where a quick dance-break or 100 jumping jacks (math + gym) is not possible. Here’s one amazing idea (thanks, Kelly)--an under the desk elliptical machine Also, sitting on a yoga ball or an upgraded Swopper Desk Chair can enhance the learner’s core stability and provide more movement as well. 4. Background Murals are a super fun way to raise the chi (Big Time) in any office or learning space. If your budget allows--go for it--I would love to help you select the perfect one--there are only about a zillion to choose from! One creative way to get the mural effect (but in a very inexpensive and temporary way) is to use a printed shower curtain like this one. Hang it stretched out on the wall behind the desk either with small nails or 3-M hooks--you will need 12 :) Shower Curtain (actually we used 2), provides a beautiful background for this classroom teacher AND hides storage In any case, pay attention to what’s on the wall behind the desk, remove clutter, add something beautiful! I hope at least one of these tips will enhance the Virtual Learning Experience at your house--please let me know if you would like to connect about your unique situation. I would love to help get you set up. Happy Studying! Lots of Love, XOXO PHOTOS: “Sierra--Ready for School” by: Kelly Jones, “Teacher’s Shower-Curtain-As-Mural” by: Morgan Simons
