There’s Magic in Your Mess

Do you ever wonder if there’s a silver lining to your junk? A golden nugget of truth hidden in the boxes? A teeny magic message that will arise from the mess?
I get it, I used to think that just letting go of stuff would translate into magical results all on its own. A very black and white scenario: you let go and you receive, BIG TIME. And yes, there’s a sizable connection between letting go and letting in. I’ve seen it over and over:
~Let go of 20 boxes of old paper→new job opportunities start arriving
~HANDLE the chaos in the basement→start eating well, start a walking program and lose 15 pounds
~Clear out junk room (I mean craft room)→ daughters start inviting friends over to craft...FUN!
~Shred threatening emails from ex→ accept marriage proposal from boyfriend by the weekend
~File the piles of papers on and around your desk→ win award for most productive manager
These are a few examples from the REAL LIVES of our clients, and maybe you’re thinking, “It’s too good to be true!” (I thought so at first, too!) Truthfully, these astonishing results have always seemed a little cheesy and “off” to me, even though I have been a witness to them over and over. I’ve pondered what the magic *really* is many, many times. What is the missing piece?
The real magic lies in the act of choosing.
With each decision to keep or not keep (and this includes thoughts, relationships, beliefs, ideas, and STUFF) we get to CHOOSE what defines us in the moment. Every single little thing that we make a decision about (or don’t make a decision about)--whether it’s junk mail that arrives every day, the piles of dusty, crusty who-knows-what, relationships or beliefs...as we sift and sort, we are not just saying “Yes” to what stays or goes, but we are saying “Yes” to ourselves.
Each YES is a moment to say, “Yep, that’s me--that feels like it really resonates with my soul!”
Every NO is the chance to say goodbye to an outdated version of you.
As we sort through the clutter we face each day--emotional, spiritual, intellectual AND physical--we discern and constantly create and re-imagine ourselves as we evolve and grow.
So, finishing the decluttering process? Not going to happen! It’s a constant aligning with who we are. Right now. Right now. Right now.
And the more aligned we are with our authentic selves, the more the good stuff shows up in our lives.
The process of decluttering is our chance to really take a good look at
Who. We. Are.

~Beer Can Collection?
~Rat’s nest of receipts from the ‘90s?
~Grandma’s fine china with matching crystal goblets--place setting for 12--beautifully boxed?
~Broken furniture?
~Old board games or puzzles with missing pieces?
~A job that makes you cry as you drive there EVERY SINGLE MORNING?
~Unfinished afghan that (come on, let’s face it) you will NEVER finish and you think is ugly, anyway :)
Our physical stuff defines us more than we know, it’s a living, breathing journal of our lives.

Home Office Feng Shui Upgrades

6/20/2024

Working from home these days?
Statistics say that 77% of those who work remotely at least a few times per month show increased productivity, with 30% doing more work in less time and 24% doing more work in the same period of time--WOW!

If you have the opportunity to work from home, how do you feel about it?
Upgrading your home office space (even if it’s a small nook in the corner of the kitchen) will increase your focus and productivity, I’ve seen it over and over…
Picture
Feng Shui Upgrades:
*Situate your desk in a powerful “CEO” position, facing the door
*Organize your supplies in a way that makes it easy to find and use them.
*Upgrade your filing system (can you let go of any/most of your paper files?)
*Add art that is powerful and uplifting
*Consider a beautiful paint color for the walls
*Use mirrors to bounce the light from the windows
*To bring the energy UP, consider beautiful ceiling lighting and even (as in this case) wallpaper on the ceiling!

Feeling inspired to adjust the energy of your work space? I would love to support you--try some of the ideas above or send me a message--let’s chat!
Lots of Love,
XOXO

Tiny spaces need some love too!

This little powder room could SO EASILY be forgotten but with a few Feng Shui Design upgrades, it is the superstar of small spaces--

~The bright orange Koi wallpaper instantly raises the energy in this space
~The blue SIMPLE cabinet balances the colors in the room
~The black hardware and round mirror keep things quiet so the wallpaper can take center stage
~The yellow orchids on the vanity complete the space

We are predicting an uptick in water consumption for this family JUST SO they can make extra trips to this charming bathroom 😂
Picture
Take a fresh Feng Shui look at a tiny space in your home--even if it’s a drawer or closet--clear out the “downers”, organize things and add something beautiful--your home will thank you for it❣️❣️❣️
Send me pictures or a message and share your tiny space makeovers (or your ideas) I would love to cheer you on!

Feng Shui Elements--Too Much Metal

6/6/2024

Today we’re continuing our discussion of the Feng Shui Elements--
So many people ask me about one of the most basic Feng Shui Tools--the balance of the elements--it’s SUCH an important key in creating a beautiful feeling space--
There are 5 Elements in Feng Shui:
  • Fire
  • Earth
  • Metal
  • Water
  • Wood
When they are all in balance, it feels wonderful, the vibes are GOOD and you never want to leave the space.
You can instantly feel when the elements are in harmony or when one or more of them have gotten out of balance.
Today let’s focus on the element of Metal--The METAL Element is represented by:
~The white, gray, or pastel color spectrum
~Things made of metal, rock or minerals
~Metal or Stone
~Circles, Ovals or Arched Shapes
Example of Too Much Metal in a space:
Picture
  • Marble or Faux Marble on the walls -- (Faux counts as the real thing!)
  • Gray and white flooring/rugs
  • Gray and white furniture and bedding
  • Gray and white lighting and accessories
  • Curved Chair and ottoman
  • Round shaped rug under the chair
  • Light gray paneling on the walls
  • White walls, floor and ceiling
  • White furniture
  • White lighting and accessories
  • Gray pillows
The above room was featured in a well-known design publication, but from a Feng Shui perspective, the elements are out of balance (Too Much Metal) and if you were to live in this space you might feel:
*Anxious
*Forceful
*Controlling
*Jealous
*Guilty
*Jittery

When the Element of Metal is in balance in your space (as in this loft):
Picture
You feel--
→Strong
→Courageous
→Determined
→Happy with simplicity or a minimalistic approach to your life and possessions
In this room:
~Water is represented by the color of the blue comforter
~Wood is represented by the flowers depicted in the mural and green color paint on the walls
~Fire is represented by the animal print in the carpeting and the lofted shape of the ceiling
~Earth is represented by the shape of the bed and the yellow colors in the room
~Metal is represented by the metal in the frame of the lamp and (what you can’t see--the metal railing protecting the loft space from the room below)

So, check your own home or office, how do the rooms feel?  Do you have metal elements in your space AND how do they make you feel?
Notice the element of metal--does it feel like you have too much, too little, or does it feel just right (The 3 Bears Method :)?
There are always “corrections” that can be made in a space to balance the elements--when I work with clients to harmonize, balance and upgrade a space, I am always aware of these foundational principles and use very specific design “remedies” in the form of paint color, fabric choices, furniture, space planning, flooring, and art to correct or cure the energy of a space that has gotten out of balance.
I will be highlighting the element of Water next month, so keep an eye out :)
And, if you would like to have a conversation about working together, just send me an email and I will be in touch as soon as possible.
Lots of Love,
XOXO

Hello Beautiful!
Did you know that, on average, people spend one-third of their lives in their bedrooms, including 33 years sleeping, 7 years trying to sleep, 7 years trying to wake up:) and 7 years relaxing…
So let’s make that space feel AMAZING--a place where you can rest and recharge for your beautiful life!
I am excited to share this bedroom that we recently completed~
Picture
Picture
This is a great example of how just a very few BEAUTIFUL things can make your space feel like an oasis--a place for you to rejuvenate and restore.
Consider these things as you look at your own room with fresh eyes:
*A mellow paint color--this one is ‘Wild Rice’ by Benjamin Moore
*A simple, solid and prominent headboard--to “back you up”
*Uncomplicated bedding
*One stunning piece of art
*Simple matching nightstands
*Gorgeous matching lamps
*A simple dresser
*A chair for reading
*Balanced Feng Shui Elements--Fire, Water, Wood, Metal and Earth
*Delete anything that you do not love or need--just let it go…
I would love to see what you create--even if you just make one small upgrade--please send a message or pictures, it would be fun to connect.
Until my next love note…
XOXO
