We had a FANTASTIC time in South Africa--such a vibrant and complex country full of color, chaos, conflict and SO MUCH SPIRIT! The trip was a bit of everything: mountains, oceans, culture, the ANIMALS (OMG--So Cool!), connecting with new people, hiking, negotiating with the locals and each other :) and just plain hanging out! Entabeni Game Reserve So, I’m back (!!!!!) and excited to begin the Fall season with you. It’s the perfect time to put an extra bit of focus on your home...can you feel it? Soooo, let’s continue our ‘Year of Clearing’…and get the chi flowing beautifully through your home (and your LIFE!)... (A little bird told me that there are many of you actually following along each month--BRAVO!) Jan--Master Suite May--Kids Stuff September--The Basement Feb--Kitchen June - The Garage Mar--Family Room July - Office Apr--Linen Closet Aug--Entry/Mudroom October is the perfect time to handle Crafts and Creative Spaces… The kids are back in school, maybe you’re dreaming of a little time to sit down to Paint-- (Or Sew, Knit, Make Fridge Magnets, Scrapbook or get to your Beading.) VERY OFTEN craft and creative supplies get a little jammed up--we haven’t made time to actually create and to get the juice going we go shopping and purchase fresh, appealing supplies in hopes that they will get us back in the groove. I know, I’ve done it, too... Then the old stuff gets shoved to the back of the cupboard, closet or the bottom of the boxes, piles up--or, ahemmmmm, fills up an entire room or a BASEMENT! :) And that’s when the gloom sets in. The nasty voices in your head start saying things like…
Time to tell the voices to SHHHHHHHHHH! If you love your craft, if it gives you pleasure, relaxation, and sparkle then it IS worth taking the time to edit and organize--your muses will thank you for it! Set yourself up for success, “lose” your phone for an hour, assemble bags/boxes for donation, trash, etc. turn up the music and GO! Get “the STUFF” out: box by box, shelf by shelf, section by section-- Feel into your CURRENT inclinations and keep ONLY THE SUPPLIES that spark your genius! Perhaps you’re creatively inspired to move in a new direction, or expand on an area that previously held little interest for you… Remember this is about NOW and the FUTURE and is not A MUSEUM for old craft projects--let them go! Take everything out, edit (RUTHLESSLY--someone else will LOVE THIS STUFF!) Contain supplies by category, and clearly label for easy identification. Put things back with your most needed items front and center and less used items up high or in the back. Check out this blog post… for storage inspiration. This is a great time to use your container as a guide. Clear an area to work, check for possible lighting enhancements and you’re off and running! Celebrate by starting that project you’ve been dreaming of! And, if you want support and guidance, we would love to work personally with you so you can get the mess handled and start your creation sooner than later--just reply to this email and we will set up a time to chat. Lots of Love, XOXO PHOTO CREDIT: 123rf
