One simple thing like a living room rug…

Did you know that the SIZE of your area rug has EVERYTHING to do with how big/or small your space feels? This is a concept you may be able to apply to your space right away!

Take a look at this living room with the newly added BIGGER rug:

Previously, the rug in this space was smaller by a couple of feet in BOTH directions. It completely dictated the perceived size of this room.

By adding this much larger and more colorful rug (isn’t it GORGEOUS--hot pink fringe--whaaaaat?), we’ve energetically just about doubled the size of this space.

WHEN SELECTING AN AREA RUG--Choose a size that allows you to:

Have at least the front legs of the furniture on the rug
Have your rug extend out as far as you can beyond the furniture to give you a feeling of expansiveness
Create a “campfire” effect bringing your furniture and YOU and your people together to connect.

ALSO, CONSIDER:

Color--Does your rug need to be quiet to let the art and furniture sing, or, as in this case, can it have its own moment to shine?
Texture--Does the rug feel thick and luxurious underfoot?
Care--Do you have kids or pets that need to be considered in the selection of materials?

HOMEWORK:

Take a few minutes and notice--are there places in your home where an area rug upgrade could make a big difference in how your space feels?
Use your imagination (and two tape measures) to see just how big an upgraded rug could be!
Dream into the color, texture and feeling a rug could provide
