QUICK TIP: Put on your “fresh perspective” goggles...and give your living room a look. How does it make you feel? Could you let go of some clutter? Need an art or lighting upgrade? Could simply re-arranging the furniture make a difference in how your space feels? Pick one thing this week (even a stack of magazines) and take action! Last week I spent a fabulous evening with the Empowered Women’s Group--WOW--a group of rockstar women who are on a mission!!! So grateful for the opportunity (Thank you Doni and Bridget!) to speak about the power of Feng Shui Design. Welcome to our community--I’m so happy you’re here! There was an incredible response to my entryway post last week...so, I’ll continue with our apartment tour and share the living room! Immediately after rounding the bend from the entry, we (Bob and I--and you, if you come over!) are treated with THE COUCH! Let me back up to say that this area of the apartment was “designated” as the dining room, so, in planning our furniture layout, we got creative and put the couch first! (you’ll see the dining area next week). The Couch...invites us to come in, sit down and put our feet up! Seriously though, can’t you hear the coach beckoning you, too? It’s low, very comfy and fits the inset space perfectly--a purchased sofa with the exact dimensions of the area--imagine that! EVERYONE wants to sit here, and NO ONE wants to leave :) It’s beautiful but not too precious, a winning combo! The Coffee Table...Bob, lovely husband, made the base for our coffee table (out of Ford truck springs--what can I say??? he’s a mechanic/artist--a very rare bird:)) The top is a piece of granite from a local granite graveyard (the pieces lopped off from big projects). It’s charcoal with a tiny bit of glitz and has a sueded finish. This table calls us to put our feet up, eat, read, even work on messy projects. It’s a big piece of gorgeous, indestructible stone with rounded friendly corners. The Lights...No room for floor or table lighting so we got creative and mounted these swing arm sconces to the wall. These lovelies provide just the right amount of light without taking up floor space. They’re low-key in design to let the couch and table steal the show! The Paint...The neutral wainscoting color is offset by the soft and relaxing ‘Geneva Blue’ (Pratt and Lambert) wall color. The light lavender ceiling continues from the entry, tying the spaces together. All in all, an oasis of a living room to come home to. Wouldn’t you love for your living room to welcome you home? Have a gorgeous week--I look forward to catching up with you next Tuesday! Lots of Love, XOXO SUCCESS STORY: “I know it’s just a chair and a pillow, but it changes EVERYTHING! My living room feels so amazing!!!! I smile every time I walk past or even think about the living room. Finally, those ratty, worn chairs are OUT and something fresh is IN--Thank you for continuing to steer me to the home I REALLY want!” Laura H.
