I’m going to suggest that you see how it feels with a little less this year... less STUFF! A certain family I know just implemented a draw-a-name-and-give-one-gift exchange instead of one gift for each of the six of them, Whew! Buy 1 gift instead of 5, now that feels WAY better! And the way the story goes...it is a HUGE relief to all of them!
Do we really need more stuff? Especially stuff that (a well-intentioned) someone else picks out? I am not saying that you shouldn’t surround yourself with beautiful things that you LOVE, or GIVE if you are totally inspired, but the rest of it...the 75+% of it????? It may need some re-consideration.
How about giving yourself...
Get rid of things you don’t love or need and donate them to a good cause. Win-Win! You feel better with less + someone else can be enchanted by your old stuff.
Give the money you saved by NOT shopping to a deserving charity of your choice, boost someone else’s life!
Leaving space in our homes is how the “other” gifts come in...you know, new ideas, creativity, abundance, relationships, and FEELING GOOD! If we live in a jam-packed, no-wiggle-room-home, there is no way anything new can present itself.
I am going to remind you that not everything has to be cooked from scratch. If you’re in a pinch, there are delis, bakeries, grocery stores with lovely items inside ALREADY PREPARED. Use the time you save to take a nap, meditate or enjoy your family.
Time is an important currency, if you are feeling pressure, back off, breathe, and spend it how you REALLY want to!
And, it’s tricky, I know, to “give” my services to someone who is a clutterbug or disorganized. So, if the recipient is not OVERJOYED with the gift of an afternoon session with me, I will refund your money...super easy!
