Hello Beautiful!

I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Holiday Season 🎅and an amazing start to your New Year ❤️
Picture
Even though everyone’s thinking “Holiday Season”…we, over here at Jane Antonovich Designs, are wrapping up KITCHEN SEASON!!!!

We have completed 4 total kitchen re-dos this summer/fall! And the results are STUNNING--

Kitchen #1 is highlighted below…

BEFORE:
Challenges:
  • The cabinets were dark and dated--the insides of the cabinets/cupboards were also not functioning up to their potential
  • The wood felt heavy and the jagged cabinet line at the ceiling created an unstable feeling
  • The floors were a brown patchwork of tile--hard, cold and unfriendly
  • The backsplash and counter, coordinating with the floor tile, also carried the harsh and dark feeling through the kitchen
  • A general low energy feeling in this space

AFTER:
  • Modern, updated cabinet style and color--clean lines
  • Cabinets all the way up to the ceiling eliminating that “chi trap” (place where energy gets stuck) between the top of the cabinets and the ceiling
  • Reflective tile, a combination of glass, marble and mirrors, gives that OTHER stuck spot between the cabinets and the counters some zip!
  • Taking the tile all the way up behind the hood gives a much more expansive feeling to the space.
  • New flooring throughout the entire first floor gives a cohesive feeling and balances the gray (metal energy) cabinets with a good amount of beautiful light wood.
  • Light colored, durable countertops, new sink and faucets
  • A beautiful ceiling color (light pink) connects the kitchen and dining spaces and adds sweetness to the “all business” kitchen.
  • Replacing the lights with pendants that also coordinate to the dining light--sorry you can’t see, you’ll just have to take my word for it 😂
  • In general, this space has been elevated, and balanced in both beauty and function--it feels amazing to BE in this kitchen, doesn’t it?

Results:
Our clients can’t believe that, even with basically the “same” layout, there’s SO MUCH MORE storage and functionality--drawer dividers, knife block insert, spice pullout, a deep drawer dedicated to smoothie items, a built-in bookshelf for cookbooks at the end of the peninsula, tray dividers, pullout shelving for easy access--EVERYTHING custom created to suit their needs and desires.

This is truly a dream kitchen for our clients--they are ‘over-the-moon’ happy with the results and the way their new and improved kitchen serves as a beautiful heart of their home.

All of a sudden, entertaining, family meals and hanging out cooking has become enjoyable and flows smoothly and happily--ALL supported by the new upgraded kitchen space.

***It took us a while to find them, but we are so lucky to partner with THE BEST Custom Cabinet/Countertop team in the Madison area! We LOVE it when we find such AMAZING support for our work. (We also have the best contractors, painters and wallpaper hangers--so lucky)***

Is there an upgraded kitchen in your future? If so, or even if you want to discuss the possibility, let me know--I would be more than happy to jump on the phone with you!

Lots of Love and Ho Ho Ho!!!!
XOXO

In the spirit of the season, I wanted you to know that I’m so thankful for you--I SO appreciate your comments, questions and messages--keep them coming! And, remember, I’m ALWAYS happy to jump on the phone to discuss a project that you may have in mind--just reply to this email--easy!

Our holiday season started out with the annual “Thanksmas” PJ tradition:

LOVE this crew of grandchildren (and that they indulge me every year for this picture)!

Today, though, I want to focus on a couple who, BEYOND ANY DOUBT, are feeling the effects of their bedroom makeover…they bid on and WON this makeover to support the Forward Theater in Madison and what a wonderful journey it’s been!

BEDROOM Before:

Their home is stunning and chock-full of amazing architectural touches!

Yet, as we talked about this particular room of their home, Nancy and David’s biggest request was that they wanted to improve their sleep--neither one of them was sleeping well AT ALL.

They had been thinking about upgrading this room for a while but hadn’t quite “landed” on anything that felt amazing or supported them in this endeavor.

Challenges:
The bed was situated in a disempowering spot in the room--Feng Shui tip: place your bed so that when you're lying in bed, you can see the door to the bedroom--not have it behind your shoulder. Can you feel that?

It feels like someone can sneak up on you and THAT causes uneasy feelings, even when you’re sleeping (or trying to sleep)! And as you can probably already know, lack of sleep is responsible for stress and a whole host of other health issues…so this was Top Priority for their project.
In addition to the weak bed position, in this room we are faced with:
  • Small, less than ideal, space on the far side of the bed for getting in and out
  • Under-the-eaves wall/ceiling “shape” causing a downward turn of energy and highlighted by a two-tone paint scheme
  • Large, standing mirror position--movements in the night, reflected in this mirror, can be jarring
  • Large armoire dominating the end of the room---feels “heavy”
  • Rug position--at an angle--contributing to a wonky feel to the room
  • Gem of a chair/ottoman in the basement--begging to be refreshed!
  • In general, a room with so much potential that just wasn’t hitting the mark

After:

  • The new position of the bed is Powerful and feels Spacious
  • The placement of the GORGEOUS wallpaper on the walls AND ceiling corrects for the downturn of the eaves--softening the lines of delineation
  • The luscious vine and fruit pattern of the paper reminds us of our connection to nature.
  • Deep and rich blue paint color (Blue Heron--B. Moore) perfectly balances the wallpaper and gives love to the “sitting area” side of the room
  • The architectural arch is highlighted by the difference in paint and wallpaper
  • The little basement chair/ottoman was recovered in a whimsical print--jazzing up the seating area to balance the sleeping area
  • The rug is straightened up giving the space a “chiropractic adjustment”
  • Mirror tucked away so that it doesn’t interfere with sleep
  • New nightstands/lamps expand the headboard energy and add sparkle
  • New MODERN art over the fireplace--creates a zingy feeling in a traditional space

Results:
Nancy and David are not only happy with their beautiful, balanced new space, but they are both consistently sleeping very well! 💖

They even commented that they are sleeping “too well” (Ahem, that was the assignment… :) The energy is perfectly balanced for them--I hope they continue to enjoy remarkable sleep!!!!

Lots of Love and Sweet Dreams,
XOXO
