Your House is Whispering… Can You Hear What Wants to Go?

The other day I walked into a client’s house and immediately heard it.

Not with my ears.
But with that little energetic radar that kicks on when you’ve been doing Feng Shui for a couple of decades.

The house was whispering.

Not loudly.
Not dramatically.

Just little nudges like:

“Those stacks by the stairs… we’re done with those.”
“This closet is tired.”
“That drawer? Oh honey… that drawer has been trying to retire since 2016.”

Your house does this too.

Homes are not static. They are living, breathing environments that hold memories, patterns, and energy. And every once in a while… they start quietly asking for an edit.

Not a full renovation.
Not a weekend of dramatic purging.

Just a gentle release.

The Subtle Signs Something Is Ready to Leave

Clutter doesn’t always show up as chaos.

Sometimes it looks like:

• The stack of magazines you “might read someday”
• A closet that feels oddly heavy when you open it
• A decorative object you no longer even see
• A drawer you open and immediately close again

Your body knows before your brain does.

You pause.

You sigh.

You feel a little ugh when you walk past it.

That’s the whisper.

Why Clutter Happens (Even to Really Lovely Humans)

Let’s normalize something right now.

Clutter is rarely about laziness.

It’s about:

• Sentiment
• Identity
• Old versions of ourselves
• “Just in case” thinking
• Good intentions that never quite landed

And sometimes it’s simply because life got full.

Kids grew up.
Schedules changed.
Careers evolved.
Interests shifted.

But the objects stayed.

Feng Shui teaches us that our homes should reflect who we are becoming… not just who we used to be.

And every once in a while, that means something has to go.

A Tiny Experiment for This Week:

Instead of attacking your whole house (please don’t), try this:

Walk into one room.

Stand still for a moment.

Take a breath.

Then ask quietly:

“Is there anything here that feels finished?”

Don’t overthink it.

Something will pop into your awareness.

A stack.
A shelf.
A drawer.
A corner.

Just choose even one small thing and release it.

That’s it.

One bag.
One drawer.
One tiny energetic exhale.

Why This Matters More Than You Think

When you remove something that has quietly overstayed its welcome, something fascinating happens:

Energy moves.

Rooms feel lighter.
Your mind feels clearer.
And your home sighs a little sigh of relief.

I’ve seen it happen thousands of times.

Clutter clearing isn’t just organizing.

It’s making room for the life that wants to happen next.

And March—right on the edge of spring—is a beautiful time to begin.

Next time, we’re going to talk about one of my favorite Feng Shui secrets:

Why editing is actually the first step of great design.

(Not pillows. Not paint colors. Not furniture.)

Editing.

It’s where the magic begins.

So, if you’re feeling the nudge to create a little more breathing room in your home, I’d love to support you.
