Long weekends have a sneaky way of whispering, "You should be productive!" while simultaneously begging us to sit outside with snacks and stare at trees.
Good news: Feng Shui is not about exhausting yourself or transforming your house into a minimalist monastery over a three-day weekend. Tiny shifts create big energetic ripples.

I have seen people clear one closet, one cabinet, one junk drawer, one corner of a garage... and suddenly feel lighter, clearer, happier, more motivated, and weirdly inspired to drink more water and make better life choices.
Magic? Maybe.
Feng Shui? Definitely.
Your assignment (should you choose to accept it): Pick ONE spot.
Anything counts:
• glovebox
• purse
• junk drawer
• pantry shelf
• bathroom cabinet
• front entry
• closet
• garage corner
• office desk
• that mysterious pile you've been walking around for six months pretending not to see
You'd be surprised what can happen in a very short time.
Step 1: Set yourself up for success
Gather:
• donation bags
• trash bags
• recycling bin
• boxes if needed
• water or favorite beverage
Hang your imaginary (or real) Gone Fishing sign.
TURN OFF YOUR PHONE.
Seriously. Your phone suddenly becomes deeply interested in showing you videos of baby goats and kitchen gadgets the moment you begin decluttering.
Not today, tiny distraction machine.
Step 2: Take everything out
Yep. Everything.
This is where people start making sounds like:
"Wait...I own THREE tape measures?"
"Where did this come from?"
"I have been looking for this since 2018!"
Step 3: CLEAN
Dust.
Wipe.
Vacuum.
Bless it.
Sing to it if you want.
Spaces hold energy. Once the clutter leaves, cleaning resets the stage before your beautiful new energy moves in.
Step 4: Decide what gets invited back in
This is often the challenging part.
Ask:
Does it lift me up?
Does it support where I'm going?
Does it describe my future self?
Do I love it?
Do I need it?
Would Future Me be excited I kept this?
The rest?
Thank it and let it move along on its next adventure.
Step 5: Put things back intentionally
This is where containers can help.
But before racing out to buy seventeen matching bins with cute labels...
Use what you have first.
Baskets.
Shoe boxes.
Mason jars.
Containers from your takeout soup era.
Use the fancy organizing stuff later if needed.
Step 6: CELEBRATE!!!!!!
This is the secret sauce.
Actually...more than sauce. Secret rocket fuel.
Without celebration, all you see is the next clutter project staring at you with judgment.
Celebrate the win.
Ideas:
• Sit down with a delicious beverage and bask in your brilliance
• Go for a walk
• Dance around your kitchen
• Sing loudly and imperfectly
• Go for a swim
• Phone a friend
• Light a candle
• Buy yourself flowers
• Take a victory selfie
• Put your feet up with a book
• Reply to this email and tell me what you did — I will cheer you on!
One more important thing:
Take the donations, recycling, and trash OUT OF THE HOUSE.
Not the garage.
Not the basement.
Not your car where they will become emotional support donations.
Out.
All the way out.
You won't feel the full energetic shift until the old energy actually leaves.
