Before and After: A Feng Shui Makeover by the Water

Welcome to our latest design transformation: a lakeside home that went from monotone white to vibrant zen, thanks to a Feng Shui-inspired makeover! Let’s dive into how color, furniture placement, and thoughtful design choices brought harmony and grounded energy into this gorgeous space.
The Before:

Imagine this—a home perched by the water, graced with stunning views, but painted entirely in white. Sounds serene, right? Not so fast! In Feng Shui, white represents metal energy. Combine that with the abundant water energy from the lake, and you’ve got an unbalanced home with an unsettled vibe. It felt stark, unstable and…a little adrift.
The floor—the carpet and tile combo needed an uptick in energy flow. The massive glass dining table and mismatched chairs added to the floating, disconnected feeling. And let’s not forget the second sofa that seemed to block, rather than invite you into the room.
The After:

Cue the Feng Shui magic—or as we like to call it, paint, purpose, and personality! The first order of business was tackling the paint colors. The perfect shades of green and orange to the rescue!
  • Green (Wood Energy): We introduced green to symbolize growth and vitality. This color balances the dominating water energy from the lake, bringing harmony and flow.
  • Orange (Earth Energy): Orange walls grounded the space, adding warmth and stability. It’s like the home went from drifting on the waves to standing firmly on solid ground.
Next came the flooring. Out went the lifeless carpet and old tile, replaced by sleek, black porcelain tiles that provide both visual and literal grounding. On top of that, we layered gorgeous colorful area rugs adding texture and inviting softness underfoot.

Furniture Harmony:
We gave the furniture layout a serious rethink. One of the old sofas—a rich deep red beauty—got to stay, but the other was swapped out for a pair of freshly upholstered MCM swivel chairs that open up the living space. This reconfiguration allows energy to flow freely while creating inviting conversation zones.
The glass dining table? Gone! In its place, a solid wood table—substantial, warm, and oh-so-grounding. The sleek black dining chairs provide a modern touch. The table and chairs do a wonderful job of balancing the room’s energy.

The Lighting:
Goodbye, random and uninspiring light fixtures. Hello, bold and modern chandeliers that not only illuminate but also anchor the space. Lighting is often overlooked, but in this case, it was the perfect finishing touch to bring cohesion and purpose to the rooms.

Art and Accessories:
We adorned the walls with vibrant art that immensely lifts the chi of this home’s lakeside vibe. A few thoughtfully chosen accessories—like plants and ceramics—added life and character without cluttering the space.

The Result:
The transformation is nothing short of spectacular. The home now feels warm, inviting, and, most importantly, balanced. It’s a place where you can truly relax while still feeling energized. The interplay of earth, wood, and water energies creates a harmonious environment that celebrates its natural surroundings without being overwhelmed by them.
