Before & After: Feng Shui for an Energetic Main Bedroom Makeover

12/20/2024

Ah, the main bedroom—a sacred space where dreams take flight, morning routines begin, and let’s be real, the occasional laundry pile stakes its claim. But have you ever considered how the design of your bedroom can influence the energy in your life?
Welcome to the world of Feng Shui, where everything from your headboard to your wall art can shift the vibes in your room—and your soul! Let’s break down a fun Before & After transformation of this main bedroom makeover and explore the magic of intentional design.
Before: Stuck in the Mud
Picture

Picture this: ⬆️ A room with beige walls, a wooden bedframe with no headboard, and art hanging low enough to give you neck strain. The vibe? Sad and Stagnant.
  • No headboard – Without a soft, supportive headboard, your bed (and your life!) lacks stability. You might find it hard to wind down or even feel grounded.
  • Hard wooden frame – While sturdy, it’s not exactly inviting. The hard wooden edges all around might feel more like lying in a canoe than a cozy retreat.
  • Low-hanging art – Art placement can make or break your energy flow. In this case, the "low" art was literally dragging the room’s vibes down.
  • Earth-toned walls – Beige and brown tones (earth energy) can sometimes feel like quicksand, keeping you in "stuck energy" mode. It’s great for grounding, but you might feel that your passion has subsided.
After: Welcome to Vibrant Energy

Fast forward to this shocking transformation—this bedroom has undergone a complete Feng Shui upgrade! The design changes breathe life into the space, making it a nurturing oasis for love, relaxation, and positive energy flow.
  • Soft and stable headboard – The new upholstered headboard creates a supportive backdrop for your rest giving you a sense of security and comfort.
  • Blinds with purpose – The upgraded blinds offer control over the light, helping to balance the Yin (soft) and Yang (bright) energies. Plus, they shield you from any wandering neighborly eyes—hello, privacy!
  • Gorgeous green walls – Say goodbye to beige and hello to a refreshing green. This shade activates the heart chakra, promoting love, connection, and a touch of vibrancy that’s hard to ignore.
  • Statement dresser and WOW-worthy art – The stunning dresser, paired with bright and uplifting artwork, acts as an energetic focal point. It draws you right into the room and sparks joy every time you enter.
  • Relaxation station – A comfortable chair now graces the corner, creating the perfect spot to kick back with a book or savor a few quiet moments.
Why Feng Shui Works
In Feng Shui, every design choice has a purpose. Here, the shift from earthy neutrals to heart-centered greens opens the space up for fresh beginnings. The addition of soft textures (like the headboard, cozy pillows and throw) AND uplifting art encourages flow—both energetic and emotional.
Your main bedroom should be your sanctuary, a place that rejuvenates you nightly and inspires you daily. This transformation proves that even small tweaks, when done with intention, can bring big shifts in how your bedroom makes you feel.
Ready for Your Own Feng Shui Makeover?
Don’t let your bedroom’s energy stay stuck! It’s time to bring vibrant, supportive vibes into your life, too!
Here’s how to start your own transformation:
  • Support your sleep – Invest in a headboard that feels solid and stable. Bonus points for one that’s upholstered :)
  • Let in the light (or not) – Choose window coverings that give you control over light and privacy.
  • Activate your walls – Paint with colors that lift your energy and expand your soul.
  • Elevate your art – Hang high impact art at eye level to create balance and keep energy flowing.
  • Create your chill zone – Add a piece of furniture, like a cozy chair, for relaxing or reflecting.

From Drab to Fab: A Feng Shui Kitchen Transformation

12/13/2024

When it comes to kitchens, it’s easy to overlook their impact on the energy of your home. But let me tell you—your kitchen is the heart of your home, the powerhouse where health, wealth, and family connections simmer and thrive. Let’s take a closer look at one kitchen’s journey from functional yet dreary to light, bright, and energetically aligned.

The "Before": Trapped in the '90s
Picture
Oh, the quintessential late ‘90s/early 2000s kitchen—golden oak cabinets galore, laminate countertops, and a cramped peninsula that screams, "Don’t you dare try to host more than two people in here!"

This kitchen was no exception. The space felt boxed in, dimly lit, and frankly, uninspiring. The cabinets dominated the visual space with their heavy orange-ish hue, leaving no room for lighter, brighter energies to flow.

And let’s talk about that peninsula—a classic Feng Shui no-no for this particular layout. Instead of encouraging flow and communication, it acted as a literal and energetic block, cutting the space in half creating a cramped kitchen with unused space behind it.

The Feng Shui Diagnosis:
- Stagnant Chi: The layout trapped energy in awkward corners, leaving the space feeling heavy.
- Wood and Earth Overload: All that oak and warm-toned wood cabinetry tipped the balance into excessive wood and earth energy, creating a sense of stagnation and stuckness instead of nurturing stability.
- Lack of Light: Dim lighting kept this kitchen in the shadows, both physically and energetically.

The "After": Open, Bright, and Balanced
Picture

Enter the renovation—or should I say, *transformation*. This isn’t just a kitchen upgrade; it’s a Chi upgrade. Gone are the confining cabinets and that stubborn peninsula. In their place? A sleek, airy island that invites movement and connection. The entire space feels brighter, lighter, and undeniably more modern.

The Feng Shui Fixes:
- Enhanced Flow: The peninsula was replaced with an island, creating an open pathway for energy to move freely. Now, guests can gather around without feeling boxed in.
- Balanced Elements: The new design incorporates wood (lighter, more natural tones), metal (sleek hardware and appliances), and a touch of water (smooth, black reflective surfaces). This interplay creates harmony and balance (the cooking and people bring the fire!).
- Maximized Light: Pendant lights, perfectly placed can lights and large (free from cabinets blocking them) windows flood the room with natural and artificial light, raising the energy of the space to new heights.

Notable Details:
- Open Shelving: Removing the upper wall hung cabinet here and using carefully chosen plants and decor items add life and vibrancy without boxing in the space.
- Functional Beauty: The layout isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about purpose. With added storage and workspace, this kitchen works hard and has fun doing it!
- Stone Countertops: The dark stone adds a metal (and water because they’re black) element, which perfectly balances the wood floor and cabinetry.
-Tile WALLS!: Not only was the traditional backsplash tiled but the tile extended all the way to the ceiling and corners of the room, giving this kitchen another gigantic energy boost!

Why This Matters:

From a Feng Shui perspective, the kitchen represents health and nourishment. A space that feels open, balanced, and vibrant supports your ability to attract and maintain health and connection. This revamped kitchen does exactly that—it’s no longer just a place to cook; it’s a space that inspires creativity, connection, and, dare I say, joy.

The Takeaway:

Your kitchen is more than a utilitarian space. It’s an energetic hub. Whether you’re planning a major renovation or just looking to spruce things up, think about how your kitchen makes you feel. Is it welcoming? Does it spark inspiration? If not, perhaps take a cue from this transformation—a little light, a little flow, and a lot of intention can go a long way.

'Tis the Season to Declutter Your Holiday Decorations (Yes, Really!)

12/6/2024

Hello, Friend!
Picture
Ah, December, 🎶❤️FaLaLaLa ❤️🎶! The season of twinkling lights, festive cheer, and—let’s be honest—possibly WAY too many holiday decorations. Some of you love decking the halls with boughs of holly (and probably glitter, too). Others? Well, you may be secretly hiding a not-so-glamorous stash of holiday chaos in the basement, attic, or that one closet that no one dares to open. Trust me, you’re not alone!
We recently tackled this holiday I’ve-got-too-much “issue” with a few clients, and spoiler alert: It’s definitely a thing. So take a deep breath, grab your favorite seasonal beverage, and let’s declutter those festive items together. I’m here for you in spirit (and maybe in playlist form too).
Holiday Hoarding: Why We Keep Too Much
It’s easy to grab the shiny new baubles and leave those tired, sentimental ones buried deep in the storage bins. But let’s face it—those older decorations? They hold memories. Maybe they remind you of that one magical Christmas with family or that tree ornament that has seen more seasons than you can count. It’s tough to let them go, and before you know it, your collection has multiplied!
✨But here’s the thing: Your holiday spirit doesn’t live in the stuff. It lives in the moments you create, the people you share them with, and the joy you spread. So, let’s take a moment to declutter so that the joy can shine through.✨
Let’s Set You Up for Success
Step 1: First things first—set aside some no-phone time. Fun fact: We check our phones an average of 144 times a day. Yikes. Let's focus, people!
Step 2: Gather your supplies:
  • Boxes or bins for donations or discards
  • Newspaper or bubble wrap for delicate ornaments
  • Your favorite playlist (Yes, even Mariah Carey is welcome here!)
Now, let’s get to work!
Step 1: Get It All Out
Yup, I mean all of it. Every single ornament, wreath, garland, and Santa figurine. Lay it all out where you can see it. You can’t sort what you can’t see. This step might look like a glitter explosion—don’t worry, it’s temporary.
Step 2: Sink Into Your Present Life
Before you start sorting, take a moment to sink into your life today. How do you celebrate the season NOW? How much energy do you actually want to spend on decorating this year? Ask yourself:
  • What brings me joy right now?
  • Do I still feel connected to these items?
  • Am I holding on to things that no longer fit my life, my space, or my vibe?
Step 3: The Joy Test
Now, for the real fun: Ask yourself, does this spark joy? No, I’m not quoting Marie Kondo (although she’s on to something!). But seriously, if an ornament, wreath, or light strand doesn’t make you smile or feel nostalgic in a happy way, it’s probably time to say goodbye.
Pro tip: Someone in your community might be looking for exactly what you no longer need. Local charities, schools, or shelters are always looking for decorations to brighten their spaces—your clutter could be someone else’s festive treasure!
Step 4: Goodbye to the Broken and Sad
Broken? Crumpled? Moldy? Just plain sad? It’s time to let go. That shattered ornament from 2003 is not going to fix itself, and no, you’re not going to untangle those lights that only work halfway. They’ve had their day. Let them go to the great storage bin in the sky.
Step 5: Less Can Be More
Let’s talk quantity. Do you really need 20 strands of lights? Would 10 be just as sparkly? Do you need two Christmas trees, or is one gorgeous, perfectly adorned tree enough to create that magical feeling? Simplifying your decorations doesn’t mean giving up the holiday cheer—it just means making space for the spirit to shine brighter.
Step 6: Celebrate Simplicity
Close your eyes for a moment and imagine how you would feel with fewer decorations but more peace. Less clutter, more calm. Less stress, more joy. Use that vision to guide you through the sorting, donating, and discarding process.
Congratulations!
You did it! You’ve tackled a (very often) emotional category of holiday clutter. Your decorations are now intentional, beautiful, and perfectly aligned with the way you want to celebrate this season. Now, go ahead and deck those halls with confidence and joy—less really can be more. And remember, when in doubt, less stress equals more holiday spirit!
Now, go enjoy your space, your decorations, and most importantly, the people and moments that matter most.
Lots of Love,
XOXO
