A new home? Up-leveling your career or business? A new baby? A graceful retirement? Downsizing? More travel? Marriage? Empty nest? Saying Good-bye? Simplifying?
All of us, most all of the time, are in some sort of transition. Life is always flowing and moving, sometimes whether we’re ready or not! Take a few minutes with me to consider how your space can support you as you make these transitions in life.
No matter what’s ahead on your path, taking the time to prepare (if you can!) is key. Get ahead of your transition by first considering and then editing your possessions. Are they holding you back or are they moving you forward? Do they speak to the new version of you, the YOU that’s springing forth into this new phase of life?
Notice how your things, the “stuff” of your life, feel in relationship to where you are NOW and where you want to be in the FUTURE.
Working with the physical objects in your space is a very powerful way to clear stagnant energy and open up space for anything new you would like to invite into your life.
- Do you want to simplify your life but the hand-me-down stuff of your parents or things of your grown kids are holding your basement space hostage?
- Do you want to expand your business but have no office in which to work or systems to file or track your clients and income?
- Are you a grown woman but still live dorm-style with a jumble of college and kid stuff everywhere, leaving no room for a partner?
You know what I’m going to say: ONLY KEEP THE ITEMS THAT BRING YOU JOY!
Add Beauty and Flow (boost the uppers)...
Does the design of your space speak to the future? Once the old ratty couch is gone, what kind of new couch are you? Purple velvet? Dark green suede? Chrome-framed modern? Buttoned-up tuxedo pinstripe?
Is your bedroom speaking to the old, hassled, worked-too-hard you or the newly retired, inspired-to-travel and wanting some luxury you?
What new enticing additions to your space could pull you forward into the next phase of life?
Ask for support (WAY harder to do it alone)...
As we transition through life, it’s crucial to ask for help. Whether it’s family, friends, or professionals, find someone (or many someones) you can lean on, who will listen and reflect with you, and who will actually pitch in to make it happen.
I would love to work with you to hold the vision for your space (and your life) to help make your dreams come true!
Celebrate (WAY more fun with another soul)...
What fun is it if we don’t take the time to appreciate and recognize our efforts and accomplishments?
Just this week, I did the happy dance in the walk-in closet of a long-time client of mine. Well, we danced together, it wasn’t just me :)
More details (and before/after pics) about that big closet project in next week’s blog…
And, no matter where you are in life, as you move through transitions, there is nothing sweeter than noticing and appreciating the effort and fun you’re having along the way.
Until next week,
